Alteration is often necessary to achieve good fit in a garment. Making adjustments or alterations before the garment is cut from fabric will eliminate many problems. The following are the courses available for the cloth altering course.
Basic Course: Hems on pants and jeans - This includes blinds hems, casual hems, jean hems and cuffs. Taking in the back of pants and jeans -This includes taking in the back of suit pants, casual pants, and jeans thru centre back and for a sway back. Repairs - There are a number of ways to repair clothes. Bond Repair is for suits (preferably wool) with silver fish holes, burn holes or tears.
1. Bond and Darn - Where fabric is bonded behind the fabric and the garment is darned using the sewing machine. Knits - If a knitted garment gets a hole there is an easy and simple way to repair.
Intermediate Course: Hems on Dresses/Gowns/Skirts/Tops and Tees - This includes blind hems, machine stitched hems, splits, stretch fabric hems, turn twice hem, rolled hems.
2. Replacing zips - Dress pants, jeans and jackets. This also includes invisible zips.
Advanced Course:
3. Taking in sides of Dresses and Gowns - Lined and unlined dresses and gowns, taking in with boning, taking in the back with zip on Dresses and Gowns.
Systems and Techniques for Operating a Clothing Alteration Shop: This last module is for people who would like to begin their own Clothing Alteration Shop. This is based on the success of own clothing alteration shops, learning from mistakes and successes.
Each Full Course holds a minimum of 4 people and a maximum of 6. This means you will receive personalized training. One must have basic Sewing skills for these courses. By this it means you must be able to sew a straight line, understand how to use sewing machine, and have a small amount of knowledge on general sewing.
